When Mr. Jewell founded the company in l967, he had already honed his
exuberant and innovative style through years of experience in
traditional dining service. He was schooled in hotel management in his
native England and apprenticed at some of Europe's finest hotels,
including Brown's in London, George V in Paris and the Grand Hotel in
Rome. Working for the elite London caterer Searcy at Buckingham Palace
focused his interest in off-site catering.
Mr. Jewell's distinguished career has included serving the Prince and
late Princess of Wales, Queen Sofia of Sweden, President and Mrs. Bill
Clinton, President and Mrs. George W. Bush, Illinois Governors James
Thompson and Jim Edgar, Mayor and Mrs. Richard Daley and leaders of
business and philanthropy.
